Welcome to Grand River K-9, LLC! I provide professional and effective training services to help your dog become a well-behaved companion or working canine. We use reward based balanced training techniques and personalized plans focusing on real world experiences. You can find our pack working all over NE OH.
Meet The Trainer: Katrina
Owned and Operated by a Search and Rescue K-9 Handler
For over 2 years I have been dedicating dozens of hours each month to training search and rescue K-9's. I specialize in Human Remains Detection and am currently in the process of certifying my second dog, Theodore.
Beyond the K-9:
I hold a BS in Zoo and Conservation Science, a BA in Biology, and have completed multiple certifications with the San Diego Zoo Global Academy. I have experience handling over 30 domestic and exotic species and training other non-dog animals.
Sport and Continuing Education:
In addition to SAR, I currently train in dock diving and have been involved in a protection seminar. I attend multiple continuing education events and trainings yearly.

Obedience and Reactivity
These packages cover loose leash walking, heel, sit and stay, down and stay, recall, place, jumping, leave it, neutrality, and good manners. Those wishing to pursue off leash training must be proficient in on lead work in busy environments. Training can continue to cover AKC Canine Good Citizen prep, therapy dog training, and service dog work.

Aggression/Behavior Modification:
These packages cover the more intense type of training associated with dangerous or intense dogs. Topics of training can include but aren't limited to human or dog aggression, resource guarding, and predatory aggression.

Day Training:
Your dog gets to stay in the comfort of their home and complete a boot camp style training where I do the heavy lifting throughout the week and then transfer the skills to you at the end of the week in a private lesson. No need to worry about transport, the dog will be picked up from the home and transported in a secure kennel to the training site for each days outing with the trainer. Additional $100/week for clients greater than 15 miles from Chardon, OH

Behavior Modification Consulting and Training
This is a holistic approach to managing problem behaviors, reducing anxiety/fearfulness, strengthening relationship, building confidence, and enriching your dog's life. You will receive a custom manageable enrichment (activity) calendar, weekly/bi-weekly 1-hr discussion and training sessions, custom approved enrichment / food item list, and day-day no charge question answering.

Day Care Outings
Casual outings with a professional trainer, basics of leash walking, engagement, reactivity, and sitting will be touched upon during the outing. Open to non-training clients as well. Aggressive dogs are not permitted in the program. Current clients will receive a loose standard of typical training, but the focus is on exercise and a relaxing outing. No reports or training videos. Clients must reside within 45 min of Chardon, OH.
One - Hour Walks in Neighborhood
5 Outings: $250 ; 10 Outings: $475 ; 15 Outings: $710 ; 20 Outings: $920
Dog is picked up from house and we traverse within their local environment. Packages must be used in entirety within 4 months of purchase, unused sessions will not be refunded.
One - Hour Hike or Sniffari

Dog is picked up and we traverse 15-20 minutes to a local park for a fun relaxing outing, focusing on mental enrichment, decompression, and exercise. Great for dogs who need a little extra to do in their day, are reactive, or may need a more chill outing. Dogs will be transported in a Ruffland kennel in-between home and their walk destination for safety. Packages must be used in entirety within 4 months of purchase, unused sessions will not be refunded.
Two - Hour Hikes
5 Outings: $650 ; 10 Outings: $1.234 ; 15 Outings: $1,850 ; 20 Outings: $2,460

Pack Walks / Hikes
$20 / dog
Pack walks and hikes are booked about every two weeks or so during the warmer months. In the colder months we will be having as many indoor sessions as possible.
